Job Duties

Innovative Fishery Products Inc (IFP) is looking for someone to join our team to work on research projects relating to clam and oyster aquaculture from May 21 to November 2021.

The applicant will manage their time across two projects, one requiring sampling and observations for the presence of QPX on leased beach areas where hard-shell clams or quahogs are harvested and the other on the water to place and retrieve equipment and oysters, monitor shellfish growth, gather and process data from sensors, record visual observations, and maintain equipment including anti-fouling.

The applicant will work from IFPs facilities in St. Bernard with field work in St. Mary’s Bay and by boat from the Digby Wharf to IFPs oyster lease area in Annapolis Basin.

Ideally we are seeking an individual with a background in Marine Biology and/or Aquaculture Operations or Ocean Technologies that will play an ongoing role in both the operations of the hatchery and oyster farm. Experience working on an Oyster farm and asset but not required.

This is a labour-intensive position and applicants must be comfortable working outside and on the water as well as working independently and on a team. Applicants must have their own transportation.
